Teens kick off Teen Week 2011 at City Hall

ATLANTA – Earlier today, select Atlanta youth had the opportunity to meet with city leaders during a lunch and learn session at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4 at Atlanta City Hall, Old Council Chamber, third floor, 68 Mitchell Street, S.W.

This morning’s gathering was all part of the kick-off of Teen Week 2011, sponsored by the Atlanta Teen Leaders program.

Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond and other elected officials are joining the Office of Recreation on Monday in presenting the session, which will allow Atlanta’s youth to achieve a better understanding of local government and issues.

The Atlanta Teen Leaders program gives teens an opportunity to engage in community service activities, develop self-esteem, and encourage self-actualization.

During Teen Week 2011, the teens will participate in a variety of activities and events addressing political awareness, education, community service, personal development, mental and physical health, and performing arts.
