 Department of Watershed Management Issues Irrigation System Reminder

Via the Department of Watershed Management -- The Department of Watershed Management reminds its customers that irrigation systems should be shut down when the temperatures drop below freezing to prevent overspray from freezing on sidewalks and streets and causing accidents/injuries. Irrigation systems installed after 2007 must by law have rain sensors that shut the system down when it is raining or when temperatures fall below 32 degrees F.

Brunch with Santa at Café 458 Benefiting ACSS

WHAT: On Sunday, December 19, Café 458 will host Brunch with Santa to benefit the Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency. Patrons will have an opportunity to enjoy an all-u-can eat brunch with over 15 items for $12 or order a la carte from the menu. Santa will be on hand to greet the guests and take pictures if patrons are interested.  Photos are $7 or two for $15. All proceeds, including tips, go directly to ACSS and its programs to help break the cycle of homelessness.

Atlanta Fire Department Gives Away 100 Turkeys for the Holiday Season

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, November 18, 2010, the Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department (AFRD) will be sponsoring their very first turkey give away to kick off the holiday season!  The event will take place at the AFRD Training Academy at 11am.  In addition to giving away 100 turkeys, AFRD will also be giving away smoke detectors and literature about staying safe during the holidays.

Sweet Auburn Curb Market Holds 2nd Annual Tree Decorating Competition

Atlanta, GA--  This is the second year that the Sweet Auburn Curb Market www.sweetauburncurbmarket.com will host ‘Trees of Joy,’ an annual contest where volunteer teams spread some extra holiday joy by decorating Christmas trees that will be donated to families in the area.

Starting on Saturday, November 27, volunteer teams (‘Tinsel Teams’) from all over Atlanta are invited to come to the market to decorate a fresh-cut fir or balsam tree (from Barefoot Tree Farms in North Carolina), win wonderful prizes and experience the joy of giving back. Participants can pick up their ‘Trees of Joy’ application when they purchase their team’s holiday tree. ‘Tinsel Teams’ will also provide their own lights and decorations.
