Weekend roadwork lessens for Easter weekend

(WXIA) -- Only one major daytime closure will affect drivers on Atlanta's highways this weekend.

The leftmost lane on I-285 north will be closed between I-20 and Ga. 400 on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews must close the lane to remove a barrier wall.

"With only that one closure on I-285, everyone should have an easier time getting to their destination," Georgia Department of Transportation District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle said in a statement.

Nighttime closures will still occur in a handful of locations.

Three right lanes of I-20 west between Wesley Chapel and Candler roads will be closed for striping every night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Two left lanes of I-285 north between I-20 and Peachtree Dunwoody Road will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews will work to replace a barrier wall in that location.

Other scheduled closures for sweeping, drain cleaning and slab replacement include:

Bartow County
* I-75 south: one right lane between Mile Posts 300 and 299 (four and three miles before Cass White Road, respectively) will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
* I-75 north: one left lane between Mile Posts 299 and 300 (four and three miles after Cass White Road, respectively) will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Coweta County
* I-85 north: one left lane between one mile south of SR 14 and SR 20 will have a rolling closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
* I-85 south: one right lane for the mile before Collinsworth Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

Forsyth County
* Ga. 400 south: one right lane between SR 20 and I-85 will have a rolling closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Gwinnett County
* I-85 south: one right lane between Old Peachtree and Shallowford roads will have a rolling closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m nightly
* I-85 north: one left lane and one right lane between Shallowford and Old Peachtree roads will have rolling closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m nightly
* I-85 south: one right lane and one left lane between SR 20 and SR 14 will have rolling closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Hall County
* I-985 south: one right lane and one left lane between SR 60 and I-85 will have rolling closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
* I-985 north: one right lane between Friendship and Spout Springs roads will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Henry County
* I-75 north: one right lane and one left lane between Hudson Bridge Road and SR 92 will have rolling closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
* I-675 north: one right lane between SR 138 and I-285 will have a rolling closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
* I-75 north: one left lane between Hudson Bridge and Windy Hill roads will have a rolling closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Newton County
* I-20 west: one right lane and one left lane between SR 142 and Liberty Road will have rolling closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly

Weekend events that may affect traffic include the SweetWater 420 Festival at Centennial Olympic Park and Sunday's Easter Sunrise Service at Stone Mountain Park.
