Armed robbery at reported at location of bartender murder

ATLANTA -- An armed robbery was reported at the same location where a bartender was murdered in 2009.

Well-known bartender John Henderson was shot during a botched robbery when 327 Memorial Dr. was The Standard. That bar has since closed, and reopened as Augustine's Bar. It was again the location of an armed robbery Wednesday night.

Five customers were inside the bar when the robbery occurred just before midnight.

According to a police report obtained by 11Alive News, a witness was sitting at the bar when one of the suspects walked in, grabbed the bartender, and demanded money. When he tried to leave, a second man told him to sit down and hand over his cell phone. The second suspect then started taking items from other customers.

The bartender told police the man pointed a gun at her before taking cash from the register, but she said he never made any verbal threats.

Witnesses describe both of the suspects as young black males between the ages of 20 and 25, wearing dark clothes and fleece hoodies.

The owners of the bar told police there were cameras covering the inside and outside of the bar, but the video is kept at another location. Police expected to get access to that video on Thursday.
