Marlow's Tavern Announces Winners of Restaurant's Second Annual Grilling Recipe Contest

Marlow’s Tavern is honoring the winners of the neighborhood tavern’s grilling recipe contest that took place during the six-week “Red, White and Brew” menu feature this summer. The restaurants hosted the Second Annual Marlow’s Tavern Grilling Recipe Contest from June 14 – July 25, 2011, whereby interested grillers could enter their favorite recipes online and in the restaurants. Marlow’s Executive Chef and Co-Founder John C. Metz Jr. reviewed all the entries and determined the winners.

“I was really impressed with the quality of the recipe entries this year” says Metz. “All of the winners this year really exemplified classic summer dishes with an innovative twist, as well as excellent grilling skills on the part of the home cooks.”

The grand prize winner, Tom Vann of Roswell, Ga., will receive a Big Green Egg, and the first runner up will receive a $50 Marlow’s Tavern gift card. Third place winners will get “Red, White and Brew” limited edition t-shirts. The winners and their dishes are as follows:

·         Grand Prize Winner: Tom Vann of Roswell, Ga., for his coffee crusted pork tenderloin with red eye BBQ sauce

·         Runners Up:

a.    Second Place: Ray Serrano of Talking Rock, Ga., for his Green Egg bison tenderloin with buttery Cabernet Bidone sauce

b.    Third Place (Tie): Zach Procter of Lawrenceville, Ga., for his apple stuffed pork tenderloin, and John Szymanski of Johns Creek, Ga., for his gourmet stuffed beer burger

Marlow’s Tavern remains committed to the communities that the restaurants serve and truly values the input they receive from loyal patrons. Metz hosts menu previews and competitions such as the grilling recipe contest in order to give guests the opportunity to help with menu development and provide feedback on menu items. This is part of the restaurant company’s efforts to meet the need for a neighborhood tavern environment while still providing the high quality service of an upscale dining restaurant. Marlow’s Tavern extends its community involvement through longtime partnerships with charitable organizations such as Special Olympics Georgia and Share Our Strength.
