Atlanta — Kaiser Permanente of Georgia is teaming up with Atlanta Beltine, Inc. and the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs to host a build-a-bike event on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 9 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. at the new Atlanta Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark.

This is the second build-a-bike event hosted by Kaiser Permanente, the state’s largest non-profit health care plan. Last year, Kaiser Permanente volunteers assembled and donated dozens of bicycles to children from local Boys & Girls Clubs to promote use of the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. The trail, which is currently under construction near the skatepark, will connect Piedmont Park to the Freedom Park trail. It was funded in part by a $2.5 million contribution from Kaiser Permanente.

More than 200 physicians and employees from Kaiser Permanente will roll up their sleeves and assemble 40 bikes to donate to children affiliated with the MLK, J.D. Sims and Central Park community centers in Atlanta. Bike recipients will also get a lesson on bicycle safety.
